Jackie was amazing to deal with. We purchased two properties from her about a year apart. One of our particular property purchase was a bit complicated and seemed to require a number of changes/modifications with dates (our fault) and Jackie was constantly pleasant, patient and professional. She responded to us in a timely manner with clear communication and seemed to really care about our needs. I gave a 4.5 on negotiation because we actually knew what we were going to pay roughly on both purchases and hence there was not a lot of negations to be had. We are Bill & Dianne Stoutenberg. We are both retired and spend the winter in Sun Lakes, Arizona and the spring/summer/fall in Calgary, Alberta.

Last April 20, 2011 we came back to our Calgary area acreage on April 20 to 2’ of snow on our driveway and had to snow blow the driveway 3 times by May 5. This convinced us to look for a house on Vancouver Island. I searched the internet for a realtor and found Jackie Wood with Osborne Realty. I liked them because they had an easy to use website and had numerous property listings. Jackie put me on her computerized listing service and I was able to view houses for sale in Mill Bay, Arbutus Ridge, around Duncan, Parksville, Qualicum Beach and Nanoose.  I started asking Jackie many questions about the housing/areas and she promptly answered all our emails. We then narrowed our search to Mill Bay, Arbutus Ridge and Parksville.

We decided to take our 5^th wheel trailer, Dianne’s dad (Art) and our dog to the island on May 10. We camped at Parksville and toured the areas around it.

I had made arrangements to see Arbutus Ridge the next day but had to cancel that morning as Art had a heart attack. We rushed him to Nanaimo hospital where they got him stabilized and found out he had two plugged arteries.

Jackie rescheduled the Arbutus Ridge viewings and I was able to see them the next day.

Art was then taken to Victoria to have 4 stints put into his arteries.

We were able to see a few houses in Mill Bay before we left for Calgary. Jackie was always accommodating and went out of her way to meet our schedules.

We left for Calgary on May 17 without having purchased a house and continued to monitor the computerized listings throughout the summer and fall. We had more questions on various houses and she always answered them and even got floor plans I had requested.

In September I saw a listing for a new house at French Creek (just outside of Parksville) that tweaked our interest. We monitored the progress of the house and finally in early December we asked Jackie to view the house for us. She did a thorough review and sent us many extra pictures. We then started negotiating through her with the builder to buy the property.

The negotiations reached a point where we had to view the house before we bid any higher. We flew to Victoria on Dec 10 and on Dec 11 we viewed more houses at Mill Bay and Qualicum Beach. We then looked at the French Creek house and were very impressed with it. Jackie had done an accurate job of describing it to us and did not over state it.

That day we raised our bid for the house and the builder accepted it. We met with the builder the next day and did our deficiencies inspection.

There were several forms to fill out and Jackie helped us with these. We were in Sun Lakes completing all the paper work and the process went quite smoothly.

Jackie helped us locate a lawyer and we took possession on January 13.
